Grattis!
The winner of this year's edition of the contest is Henrik Petrén! He was presented with the specially designed trophy - the Klur - during the traditional finalists' dinner at Texas Long Horn, Uppsala. Congratulations!

Internetfrågorna (The internet questions)

And four to go ...
Before we show the answers for the four hardest questions in the main contest, we will one by one look at the solutions for the internet questions. These turned out not to get a true point value since the direct qualification was awarded. Jürgen Holderer, who sent in the first Journey to the Unknown, ended on second place as previously reported. The point value that is reported is the value each question would have had respectively, if a value had been needed.

Finalisterna kontaktade! (Finalists contacted!)

Time to celebrate?
Tid att fira?
Now all finalists in Klurendrejeriet® 2008 have been contacted and these get some well-deserved time to think whether or not they would like to be in the final or not. Looking back, there has not been a single year without one or more qualified finalists have rejected the seat in the final for some reason. If this will be the case this year remains to be seen. We congratulate all participants for a well-performed contest! Shortly the first answer to the easiest question be published here on Klurbloggen.

Resebyrån har stängt! (Travel agent is closed!)

See you in December?
The adventurous Resebyrån Klurendrejreriet® has closed! New records regarding the number of submitted answers has been set: more participants representing more countries have competed for more prizes than ever before, and at the same time Klurbloggen has reached a wider audience in Sweden! All this is of course good for the future of the contest, but let us discuss that some other time. The remaining parts of this year's contest are the correction, the evaluation, and the creation of ranking lists. The answers will then, as per usual, be revealed one by one from the easiest question to the hardest one, finally ending up in a more detailed solution booklet. If you have been doing well and perhaps a bit lucky, the phone may ring tomorrow ...

A household name?
Bostad i Båstad
The finalist that aims for prize SOUTH in Klurendrejeriet® 2008 will get access to Ultuna Student Union 18th Century villa, Arons hus (Aron's House) in Båstad, an entire weekend during low-season of 2008. In the house there will be bed spaces for a total of eight people, so this is an opportunity to really bring your entire team or you closest friends. Båstad is for many mainly known as host of Swedish Open, a tennis tournament in July which is part of the ATP circuit.

Have I won already?
Vilken blir din kurs?
With the student prizes, the prizes in Extrachansen and the finalists' bonus in Klurendrejeriet® 2008 already taken care of, let us have a first glance at the prize table of the final! The prizes are divided into the four cardinal directions plus an option of staying in the middle. Speaking of MIDDLE, as a gift certificate worth 70 000 KRW (worth ca. 50 euro) is the only prize that does not have anything to do with travel. Then once may decide to travel for the money, but that is besides the point. If you want to travel after the final, why not opt for prize WEST consisting of a one-night stay for two at Quality Hotel in Västerås. Once there, one can get the well-deserved relaxation after a tough contest. If you would like to avoid a crowd, it may be a good idea to not book the room around February 16, 2008. To have a chance at these prizes you have to send your solution to Ultunesaren, Box 7074, S-750 07 Uppsala, Sweden, so it arrives at the latest January 22, 2008. If you live close by, it is possible to hand it in personally (instructions will follow this weekend).

Long horns?
Långhorningar!
Just as it should be the larger prizes are found in the final of Klurendrejeriet® 2008, but already the night before the final, the participants are invited to a special dinner at Texas Long Horn in Uppsala. Once there, the topics of discussion usually circle around the questions in the just finished contest and perhaps some solutions will be heard for the very first time! In addition to this magnificent meal, all finalists are presented with a volume of Nationalnyckeln regardless of their place in the final. The books from Nationalnyckeln include very many illustrations and also a short English summary. Both these sets of prizes have been offered since Klurendrejeriet® 2006 and has been highly appreciated by the finalists of previous years. But then again, who would say no to good food and beautiful literature?

Translation of comments (part 2)
The translation services continue:
Harald Cederlund said: "I have heard a terrible rumour - that part of the Kluredrejeriet® organizing committee IS MISSING (somewhere near ASP). What does that mean for the continuation of the DOUBLE TROUBLE one might ask? It seems as if there is some kind of FRENCH-ITALIAN JOB underway and I (personally) that THAT DOES IT! If Mr. Klur does not make sure that he will be back on THE 13/12 with the 2008 edition of Klurendrejeriet®."
Mr. Klur replied: "The rumour of my disappearance is greatly exaggerated - there is no need to be concerned - but keep your seat belt fastened, because you will be taken for quite a ride before the year ends."

Direktkvalificeringen (Reserved Final Seat)
With almost all answered revealed, the "final touch" is being more and more clear. No one, however, found the answers to the remaining three questions! This allowed the fourth final seat, reserved for whomever that would find the final solution, to be transferred to the person that best solved all 21 questions. After hours of correcting, it was found that this final seat was to be given to the winner of Klurendrejeriet(R) 2006, Harald Cederlund, with a total sum of 203.5 points.

Finalrapport (Report from the final) [2]
(continued from this post) The entire final and also the warm-up lunch that started at 1 p.m. followed the theme of the contest: food! Two red-and-white logotypes were served together with family heirlooms and doubly troubling spelling mistakes. After the lunch it was high time to start the real deal! The final was devided into a separating question and four parts: knowledge, practical problem, culture, and klur. The finalists were put to the test in all parts, and as always(?) the knowledge one was the toughest. Were the questions too hard or did the time limit stress them to make mistakes? Either way, after three parts the race was so tight that anyone could still win! The last part was recgonition of citrus tastes and spice smells. The best performer in this part won the entire contest: the Klurendrejare of the Year is Johanna Dernfalk, Uppsala. Runner-up (after an additional tie-breaking questions was last year's winner Harald Cederlund (also Uppsala). Tobias Lauer, the far-travelling German from Freiburg, ended up on third place and Julia Paraskova finished fourth. Congratulations, Johanna and all other winners!

Finalrapport (Report from the final)
It is not completely incorrect to say that the final started already on Saturday evening, as the finalists' dinner was held at Texas Long Horn in Uppsala. The restaurant offered appetizer, main course, and dessert (recognize it?) and also a foto opportunity. The local newspaper Upsala Nya Tidning had sent out a photographer to take a picture of the finalists, which will be completed with a small article in Monday's issue of the paper. It was a satisfied group that left the restaurant to prepare for the final the day after. The Sunday came, but the only thing the finalists knew was that they should be ready to be picked up at 12:30 p.m., half an hour before the final. Just like the answers in Klurendrejeriet(TM), the final is (best) kept secret, where only the organizers knew what would happen ... (to be continued)

Klurendrejeriet in the media (part 10)
The German newspaper Badische Zeitung has interviewed the German finalist Tobias Lauer in their web-based youth magazin Fudder. Tobias explains the setup of the contest and that he has reached the final. You can read the entire interview - aptly(?) titled Bring home the jackpot - here (in German, of course!).
