Utan att känna till en tavlas konstnärs namn är det inte särskilt enkelt att hitta rätt - även om konstverket visas framför ögonen snudd på dagligen! I en av filmerna i McDonalds reklamkampanj med det mer än udda namnet Ingen big deal framträder en målare som använder fötterna för att styra penseln. I rummet återfinns utöver de två nämnda två burfåglarna även en lampa, en lång man och en stor trämöbel med fack. I slutet av filmen håller Mona Lisa en av de olika hamburgarna som ingår i kampanjen, t.ex. en ostburgare eller El Maco Chicken Jr. (länken ovan). Oavsett hamburgertyp, kallas dock alla rätt och slätt Ingen big deal. Rätt svar: Ingen big deal (30 poäng)

Without knowing the artist of a painting, it is not particularly to find your way through the myriad of art out there - even though it is shown right in front of you on a daily basis! In one of the movies in Swedish McDonald's advertising campaign with the somewhat strange name Ingen big deal (No big deal) a foot-oriented painter appears. In the room, in addition to the mentioned caged birds, there is also a lamp, a tall man, and a wooden piece of furniture. In the end of the movie, Mona Lisa is holding one of the different hamburgers that are part of the campaign, for instance a cheeseburger or an El Maco Chicken Jr. (see link above). Regardless of hamburger type, all are referred to as Ingen big deal. Correct answer: Ingen big deal (30 points)

Två burmesiska överlevande har hittats drivandes i ett isskåp (även om is saknades i skåpet just vid återfinnandet) utanför Kap York i norra Queensland. De kom enligt utsago från en thailändsk båt som sjunkit två dagar före jul under en fisketur. Vi får väl se om de räddade hinner skicka in ett svar i årets tävling.

Two Burmese survivors have been found adrift in an icebox (even though the ice from the box still is missing) outside Cape York in northern Queensland. They came, reports stated, from a Thai boat that sank two days before X-Mas during a fishing trip. Only time will tell if they manage to submit an answer in this year's contest.

To have a chance to qualify to the final in Klurendrejeriet® 2009 via the guaranteed seat you have to be the first to send in the correct code from the Media noise (pdf). Det naturliga urvalet har väl aldrig exemplifierats mer tydligt än i dagens fråga: i en och samma delikatess återfinns variation i form, specialisering, men alltid den speciella "symbiosen". Att detta har gett upphov till till spaltmeter i all slags media är alltså inte så konstigt, åtminstone inte lika udda som dikten med samma namn (citat: "Se hur ..."). Udda, eller minst sagt knivig, är även delikatessens ursprung, men det är väl numera ställt bortom allt tvivel. Anteckna den första och andra bokstaven i namnet.

The natural selection has probably never been more obsiously exemplified than in today's question: in just one delicatessen we can find variation in form, specialization but always that special "symbiosis". That this have generated lots of media attention is thus not that strange, at least not as odd as the poem with the same name (quote: "Se hur ..."). Odd, to say the least, is also the origins of the delicatessen, but it should now be solved beyond any doubt. Write down the first and second letter in the name.

Klurendrejeriet 2009

Nu slås portarna upp för Klurendrejeriet® 2009! I årets adventskalender presenteras en gåta dagligen vid lunchtid (svensk tid) som förhoppningsvis både är utmanande och informativ. Efter den fullbordade adventskalendern erbjuds sedan lite extra betänketid för att till sist avslutas med en final i Uppsala i vanlig ordning. Tävlingens sponsorer, regler och finstilta text presenteras lite efterhand och kommer att sammanfattas med jämna mellanrum. Kort sagt: Det finns ingen anledning att invänta julen när man kan ha roligt redan nu! Och när vi säger nu, menar vi vid lunchtid - varje dag hela december. It is high time to open the gates to Klurendrejeriet® 2009! This year's advent calendar will offer one question per day (served at lunch time, CET) which hopefully offers both a challenge and information. After the calendar is complete, extra time will be provided until the competition will end in a grand finale in Uppsala as usual. The sponsors and rules of the contest will be presented as we go along but also summarized frequently enough. In brief: There is no real reason to wait for X-Mas when we can have fun now! And when we say now, we mean at lunch time - every day in December. But, remember this fair warning: No one knows everything, but everyone knows something!

Now when the dust has settled following the hacking of the Swedish site Bilddagboken, it is time to turn the unlawful act to something positive. A list of the most common passwords on the site has been put together, and it shows that the security level of these words is not particularly high. It also tells us more about the users than they want us to know ... The "level of security" on the words in Klurendrejeriet® 2008 is much higher than those, right?

En lock som klippts från Henrik VIII:s sista gemål, Catherine Parr, har nyligen sålts på auktion för 2160 brittiska pund. Den lyckliga köparen, Charles Hudson, bor på det gods som drottningen fick av sin make i bröllopspresent, Wyke Manor. Locken kommer förmodligen från den gravöppning som genomfördes av John Locust 1782 när han upptäckte drottningens kvarlevor i slottskapellet St. Mary's Sudeley. A lock of hair cut from Henry VIII's last wife, Catherine Parr, has recently been sold at an auction for 2160 pounds. The happy buyer, Charles Hudson, currently lives at Wyke Manor, the mansion that was presented to the queen as her wedding gift. The lock probably originates from the opening of the coffin by John Locust in 1782, when he discovered the royal remains in the ruins of St. Mary's Chapel at Sudeley Castle. If you just discovered this page, there is still the possiblity to participate in Klurendrejeriet® 2008, but hurry up - we need you answer no later than January 22, 2008!

Monade om sin kropp? (Paint a rumour)

Enligt en forskare på universitetet i Heidelberg har modellen för Mona Lisa identifierats. Den gåtfulla damen som så många undrat vem det kan vara sägs nu bestämt vara en viss Lisa Gherardini, något som hävdats tidigare utan direkta bevis. Det som nu tycks styrka denna teori är en marginalanteckning av Leonardo da Vincis bekant Agostinho Vespucci som namnger modellen och hittades av Armin Schlechter redan för några år sedan, vilket förtar lite av hennes gåtfulla leende. Gåtorna i Klurendrejeriet® 2008 lever dock en vecka till, fast kanske helt utan leenden.

A scientist at the University of Heidelberg in Germany is reported to have found sound proof for identifying the model behind Mona Lisa, La Gioconda. The mysterious lady, who have caused so much debate, is said for certain to be Lisa Gherardini, which has been suggested before without being backed up by any real evidence. Now, a note in the margin found by Armin Schlechter a few years ago written by Leonardo da Vinci's friend Agostinho Vespucci mentions the model by name, thereby effectively removing the mysterious smile. The mysteries of Klurendrejeriet® 2008 is still alive another week, but perhaps with fewer smiles.

Filmen behöver visserligen ingen gratisreklam, särskilt inte i dessa kommersiella tider och med tanke på vilket företag som står bakom den. Den beskriver dock temat för Klurendrejeriet® 2008 så pass bra att vi väljer att göra ett undantag här och nu för National Treasure: Book of Secrets. This movie does not need any free advertising space, especially not in these commercially driven days and with the big company behind the movie. Nevertheless, it fits the theme for Klurendrejeriet® 2008 so well that we think it is worth making an exception here and now for National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Both the official movie poster (see above) and the plot links to the contest, the first to the travel catalogue and the latter as a cheap(?) filmed carbon copy of question 24. Can this really only be a coincidence?

Valmöjligheter (Prince of whales?)

Ni som var med i Klurendrejeriet® mini i höstas kanske minns den sista ledtråden som skulle leda tankarna till ordet val (om inte går det bra att titta här). Nu har valarnas förmodade ursläkting hittats av paleontologen Hans Thewissen vid Northeastern Ohio State University i ett prov som samlades in i Kashmir för 20 år sedan. Detta redovisas i den vetenskapliga tidskriften Nature som även sammanfattar vilka som hyllas med årsdedikationer, däribland potatisen och grodor. Förhoppningsvis dyker grodorna inte upp här i Klurbloggens texter.

All of you who participated in Klurendrejeriet® mini last fall may remember that the last clue was to lead the thoughts to the word val, the Swedish word for i whale, ii election, and iii choice (if you do not remember, click here). Now, the ancestor of whales is said to be have found by the paleontologist Hans Thewissen at the Northeastern Ohio State University in a sample that was collected in Kashmir some 20 years ago. This is reported in the scientific journal Nature, which also has collected a few of the dedications "The Year of the ..." where we find both potatoes and frogs. Let us hope that all couch potatoes get active when they read Klurbloggen.

Inte längre mobil (No longer mobile)

Det första helt automatiska mobiltelefonnätet NMT (Nordisk mobiltelefoni) släcks ner någon gång imorgon i Sverige, villket gör att den första generationens telefoner blir oanvändbara. Med tjugosex år på nacken är livslängden avsevärt längre än en telefon hos dagens ombytliga mobiltelefonanvändare som byter modell så fort en ny kommer ut. I huvudsak sägs den andra generationens telefonsystem (GSM, Groupe Spécial Mobile) täcka det snart nedlagda systemet ytmässigt, med vissa skillnader främst ute till havs. Rör sig Klurendrejeriet® 2008 sig också där ute?

In principle the second generation mobile phone network, GSM (Groupe Spécial Mobile), will cover the soon-to-be-shut-down one area-wise, with some minor differences mainly asea. Of course it is possible to celebrate a silent New Year's Eve, at least in Svedala. In an effort to take canine suffering into consideration, the fireworks this year will be a soundless one! It would be wrong to call all the questions in Klurendrejeriet® 2008 soundless, but that you probably have figured out already. The most noise ought to be coming from the movement in question 22.

Att fela är historiskt (To err is historic)

Historieprofessor Frands Herschend hävdar att filmen Arn som vi tidigare nämnt här på Klurbloggen innehåller felaktigheter. Det må möjligen vara sant, men han glömmer bort ett par viktiga detaljer i sitt uttalande. Först och främst är det ju en film vi pratar om, som visserligen anspelar på historiska fakta precis som boken Röde Orm, inget annat. Dessutom är ju till och med huvudpersonen Arn påhittad och hur kan man då vilja hävda att något annat i samma berättelse borde vara mer sant än det?

History professor Frands Herschend reports to Svenska Dagbladet that the movie Arn (previously discussed here on Klurbloggen) contains errors. It may be true, but he is missing a few vital points in his argument. First of all, we are talking about a movie that may seek some similarity to hihstorical facts just like book The Long Ships, nothing else. Furthermore, even the main character Arn is made up and why would anyone then want to point out that something else in the same story line ought to be more true than that?

Årets publikstatistik för en svensk julklassiker har redogjorts: nästan 3,5 miljoner svenskar satte sig för att se när Kalle Anka och hans vänner önskar god jul. Detta är långt ifrån rekordåret 1997 då 4,32 miljoner svenskar såg programmet, men räcker gott och väl för att räknas som en publikfavorit i Klurendrejeriet® om den nu skulle vara efterfrågad.

The viewer ratings for a Swedish X-Mas classic has been published: close to 3.5 million Swedes sat down to watch when Donald Duck and his friends say From All of Us to All of You. This is far from the current record (1997) when 4.32 million Swedes watch the same program, but is far more than enough to be counted as a crowd pleaser in Klurendrejeriet®, if it ever were in question.
